Wednesday Wisdom: Early to Bed, Early to Rise

You know what this guy said about early to bed, early to rise. Are you an early riser? Or do you consider yourself a wise night owl?
"Early to bed and early to rise, makes a man healthy, wealthy, and wise." Benjamin Franklin

Early to bed is easy for me, but early to rise? Not so much.

However, with daylight peeking through the trees sooner, now that we've passed the winter solstice (the shortest day of the year in the northern hemisphere and our first day of winter), I actually have been getting up just a bit earlier each of the last few days - and I'm amazed at the difference it's made in my productivity.

Having an extra 10 or 15 minutes in the morning definitely has had a positive impact on getting my day started off right. Do I feel healthier? Probably. Wealthier? It depends on how you measure wealth. Wiser? Absolutely.

I've always thought that Benjamin Franklin was a pretty smart cookie and in this case, personal testimony certainly backs him up.

Are you an early riser? Or do you consider yourself a wise night owl? I'd love if you'd leave a comment to let me know.

  1. Both are hard for me. I am a night owl and do not like to get up too early. 8 AM is good for me....

    1. Sounds like a very reasonable balance, Kim.
