The Importance of Proofreading

If you have grammar-nazi tendencies or if you've ever overlooked an embarrassing misspelling on something you've written, you might enjoy this short presentation as much as I did. (I found the video linked in a blog post by Jeff Goins.  Thank you, Jeff.)

"The The Impotence of Proofreading," by TAYLOR MALI

  1. Oh, I hate when I miss the seemingly obvious errors while blogging...I cringe and feel so silly. When it boils down to it, we're just human....and I'm so relieved I'm not getting graded on my blogging. :)

I use a browser plugin "after the deadline" that helps me a lot with checking my spelling while online.

  2. I'm not familiar with that plugin. I'll have to check it out - thanks! Fortunately, my Firefox has spell check built in and it even works on the blogging platforms that I use. Of course that doesn't help the mistakes that are mentioned in the video. I think I've seen 'em all!

  3. I received an email from the IT department once which ended – “We would like to apologise for any incontinence this may cause.” Also, I read a recipe for aioli which includes egg yolks but stated – “Eggs are sometimes vomited in Spanish versions of this sauce.”

  4. LOL! Love those, John! Great examples of what can happen when you get in too big of a hurry. Thanks for sharing!
